Adding custom metadata to your Sanity publication can provide valuable insights and enhance analytics tracking. Here’s a step-by-step guide to log custom metadata for post author and category using fullres.

I have decided to do this through a component because I don't want to have any superfluous code in my post template page. You can implement this directly in your post template page if you would like, however, it is up to you.

In `components/PostMetadata.js`, create a component to add metadata for post author and category.

Step 2: Integrate Metadata Component in Your Post Page

In your post template, integrate the PostMetadata component to log metadata when the post loads.

a) Make sure you have the `authorSlug` and `categories` values available within the Post component and the groq query.

b) Insert the code that calls the PostMetadata component:

That's it! Load a post a couple times and then check your fullres dashboard to make sure the custom metadata is being logged successfully. You can also use the Network tab in Developer Tools to verify that this data is being passed into fullres properly. It should look like this:

To gain insights beyond standard analytics, you track specific events and conversions using fullres. Let's say you have a subscribe button on your site, and you want to track a) when the button is clicked, and b) when the user successfully subscribes. Here is how you can implement event tracking in a NextJS application.

We are going to assume that you have already completed the 

Import fullres into your Subscribe Button component or page:

Within your click handler on the button, trigger `trackEvent`:

The `position` property and "Inline Post" string can be whatever makes the most sense for your implementation. With what we are doing here, I want to track the various button positions on the page.

Because my Subscribe Button is a Component, I would then include it in my post template at the bottom of each post with the following code:

But maybe your Subscribe Button is just inline in the post template in which case you would just integrate the "trackEvent" portion into your click handler.

This is what my subscribe button looks like. If you open up dev tools and then the Network tab, you will be able to see the events trigger and send to fullres each time you click on this button below.

Setting up fullres with Sanity.io/NextJS is super easy. Here's how to get your site up and running with fullres in just a few minutes.

2. Within your projects `_app.js` or `_app.tsx` file you will need to import `fullres-nextjs`:

And then, add the `<FullRes />` component within the App component, and pass the `siteKey` prop with the appropriate value. You can find this value in your fullres account on the settings page. The placement should be above the <Component {...pageProps} /> line to ensure it is included on every page, and look something like this:

At this point, if you load your site in the browser a couple times and then visit your fullres analytics dashboard, you will see stats appear. This means that you are now able to see basic analytics and Core Web Vitals data in your account.
